Reversing Cartilage Damage: The Next Frontier in Movement and Performance

Introduction

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic condition marked by the progressive deterioration of joints, which is caused by various factors. It is characterized by the gradual loss of articular cartilage, the growth of bone at joint margins, subchondral sclerosis (hardening of the bone beneath the cartilage) and various biochemical and structural changes in the synovial membrane and joint capsule. OA can impact various joints, with the knee and hip joints being among the most frequently affected.
